Shimada Fumikane's Art Works coverAs you may know, I’ve recently come into possession Shimada Fumikane’s Art Works. This is an art book showcasing Fumikane’s best and most seminal work. Art Works is 112 pages jam-packed with drawings, portraits, and character models, most of which are mecha musume. In previous posts I’ve discussed his fame from Strike Witches, Sky Girls, and Busou Shinki, but this art book contains so much more than that. Mecha Musume & Busou Shinki: Dreams Do Come True

The world of mecha musume has long been my favorite subgenre of anything ever. The combination of moe and machines of war is something that just simply attacks my weak point for massive damage. Popular representatives of the genre include the anime series Strike Witches and Sky Girls. In an attempt to explore the vastness of the genre, I stumbled upon many a great work including everything from figurines, to MMOs, to an upcoming PSP game.
